How long of a drive is it?
It all depends upon where you're driving from.
All of our tours depart from Fajardo which is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from San Juan , 30 minutes from Rio Grande, and 40 minutes from Humacao.

Six years old.
Six years of age is the minimum for all of our tours. Also, anyone over the age of 12 is considered an adult for our purposes.
Can you provide round trip transportation to the site/ What are the prices?
Yes we can!
We are able to offer transportation for all or our trips. Transportation on our Rainforest Combination Tours is already included on the price. For our Bio Bay and Aquafari excursion, round trip transportation runs for a flat rate of $20.00pp. Pick up locations include all Hotels in San Juan, Carolina, Humacao and the East Coast Area. Cruise Piers are also included. Pick ups from the San Juan/ Isla Verde area are scheduled one hour and a half before trip departure. For example a tour with 6:00pm check in, will expect to be picked up by 4:30pm. Pick ups in the Rio Grande area expect to be picked 45 minutes before trip check in.
Transportation service is subject to a minimum of 6 guests requesting transportation for the same trip. This doesn’t mean that you have to have all six guests in your party; you can simply join other guests from other groups that need transportation as well. In the event that the minimum amount required is not met, you have the option of renting a car or pay for the spots that are not filled.
What about our valuables, do you provide storage?

Absolutely!
You are welcome to bring anything you'd like and that certainly includes snorkeling gear. We recommend you bring anything of your own that you'd like to use and if you're missing any essential gear, we'll fill in the gaps for you.
Do you provide food on the trip?
Yes, our Aquafari excursion includes a selection of fruits, pre packaged snacks, and refreshments. However is not intended as lunch or breakfast. We recommend you have a small breakfast before joining us in the morning, and plan to eat lunch after the trip.
I'm not a good swimmer, can I still go?
Of course!
We frequently have guests join us that aren't great swimmers and even some that don't swim at all!
The key thing is that you can't be afraid of the water. We do require guests to wear Life Preservers during the kayaking portions of the trip and many guests choose to continue wearing them during the snorkeling as well.
So even if you're not a great swimmer, you can participate, just so long as you're not afraid of the water and/or ocean.
What time will we be done?
Around 1:00pm
The tour generally ends around 12:45-1:00pm. That said, it can run a bit longer if we don't get out on time, so it's important to arrive on time for the 9:30am check-in.
I wear glasses, how do I snorkel?
A prescription optical mask.
Due to the enormous range of potential prescriptions we don't offer optical snorkel masks.
Do we have wetsuits for rent?
No.
We find that most all guests don't need wetsuits and thus we don't actually offer them. The water temperature fluctuates a bit depending upon the season, but it is usually almost 80 degrees.
That said, if you are someone that gets cold easily or you simply would like to wear a wetsuit, most all of the local dive shops do rent and sell such equipment.
Can I bring a camera?
Of course; but you don’t have to!
As part of our service, our guides will digitally photograph your experience. After the tour is over, we will send the pictures taken back to your email were you can enjoy them at no extra cost! This is only available on our Aquafari excursion.

Once at Culebra how do I get to the tour location?
From the pier there will be several Taxi operators that will take you to Tamarindo Beach. Use your Taxi Transfer voucher provided by KPR. We recommend stopping at one of the local restaurants/bakeries for lunch before boarding the taxi to Tamarindo Beach for launch check-in. Taxi ride is approximately 5 minutes.
If you get there early you might have enough time to visit Flamenco Beach (which is on the same direction as the tour), grab a small lunch, and call a cab to take you to Tamarindo Beach for check in at 12:00pm.

Can I bring a camera?
If your main purpose is to take pictures of the Bioluminescence, then we suggest you leave the camera behind. The Bioluminescence is almost impossible to photograph with regular digital or disposable cameras. If your camera is not waterproof then we also suggest you leave it behind as you will be getting wet while kayaking, and there will be no place to store it in the event of heavy rain. Waterproof cameras without flash will not work. If you have a waterproof camera with flash that you want to take, we recommend that you use a leash to attach it to your life vest.
I'm not a good swimmer, can I still go?
Of course!
First of all we will not be swimming on this tour. All of our guests will be provided with USCG approved life jacket that will be required to be worn while kayaking. We will be kayaking though calm, protected waters, and all of our kayaks are very stable. Even if you do fall in for any reason, the water depth throughout the mangrove channel (were you will be kayaking most of the way) is 3-4 feet deep.
Do you provide food on the trip?
Yes, our Bio Bay excursion includes a selection of pre-packaged snacks, energy bars and refreshments. However it not intended as dinner. We recommend you have dinner before or after the trip.
How long will we kayak for?
You will be kayaking for about 25 minutes each way. The approximate kayaking distance is about 2 miles total. The total duration of the trip while on the water is about one hour and a half.
Are there sharks in the Bio Bay?
No!
Water depth is too shallow for sharks in this area, plus the coastal water of Fajardo is not known a shark hot spot. We also do not have any crocodiles, piranhas, or “chupacabras” that are going to jump in your boat!
Why is Swimming not allowed in the Bio Bay?
There are several reasons why swimming is not allowed in the Bioluminescent Lagoon. Most of them have to do with ecological impact and safety. The main reason is to keep the waters clear and free of sedimentation. The Pyrodinium Bahamense, the organism that creates the Bioluminescence, needs clear waters to complete the process of photosynthesis during daylight hours. When groups of people jump into the water, they will stir up the sediments on the bottom of the lagoon, making the water murky. The sustained sedimentation will complicate the process of photosynthesis which supplies energy to the glowing organisms. With murky waters, the Pyrodinium Bahamanese will not glow as well.
Another main reason why swimming is not allowed is to keep the lagoon free of pollutants. Insect repellents containing chemicals such as deet, deodorants, hair gels, skin lotions, and perfumes among others, all contain chemicals that are pollutants that can affect the dinoflagelates.
What is the cancellation policy for guests that are visiting on Cruise Ships or are flying to P.R. on the date of their tour?
Our cancellation policy will not change. If you are planning to take the tour on the same date that you are arriving Puerto Rico, you need to be aware of the riskiness of delayed arrivals. In the event of a delayed arrival where you are unable to take the tour, please be aware that your card will be charged if there were no direct cancellations made ahead of time. Our cancellation policy is 48 hours, however, if you are coming from a cruise and you just found out 20 hours in advance that you will be arriving late, please give us a call. We will try our best to fill up your spaces and we guarantee to refund you the amount for the spaces that were recovered.
